Opportunity – Research Analyst
Xponance is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Manager Research Analyst. Working within the Active Global Equities division, the key objective of the role is to source and evaluate equity managers for inclusion in multi-manager equity portfolios. The analyst will be expected to build a pipeline of potential managers, focusing on boutique managers operating in capacity-constrained markets, such as non-US and Emerging markets. Experience is not required. Successful candidates will be able to work closely with team members but are internally motivated and intellectually curious. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESÂ

- Maintain the compliance calendar and track project deliverables.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Team to review marketing materials and monitor social media presence.
- Oversight and document annual review of sub-manager compliance programs.
- Collaborate with various teams in gathering information for submission of periodic compliance deliverables to clients, responses to prospective client inquiries, and regulatory examinations.
- Provide data entry assistance and data quality support for regulatory filings (Form ADV, Form PF, 13 Series filings, etc.)
- Fact-finding, upon the direction of the CCO, on new compliance-themed industry requirements and risk alerts
- Support the compliance risk assessment process and the compliance testing program.
- Perform other related duties and ad hoc projects as assigned..
Qualifications

EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES:
- Perform due diligence on approved and prospective equity managers for multi-manager portfolios. In addition to philosophy, people, and process, due diligence responsibilities also include detailed business and financial viability analysis as well as operational and compliance due diligence.
- Analyze performance, portfolios, and factor exposures and trends on approved and prospective manager portfolios.
- Provide manager investment recommendations to the CIO and Senior PM.
- Provide quarterly and ad hoc performance, business, and operational oversight reporting on approved managers to the CIO, Investment Committee, and clients.
- Work with industry contacts to continuously source new managers from startups, lift-outs, and other new opportunities.
- Counsel and advise boutique managers on marketing and business best practices within the industry.
- Contribute to original white papers, market outlooks, and studies for broad publication across the global investment community.
- Evaluate third-party vendors for suitability in providing outsource investment, operational, and/or compliance services to managers.
- Support the CIO and senior PM in building multi-manager portfolios.
- Travel to industry conferences and due diligence meetings required (<25% the time).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in an investment or quantitative field
- CFA charter or willingness to work towards CFA charter preferred.
- Knowledge of financial markets, investment research, equity investment strategies.

- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Willingness and ability to build a strong network of investment professionals to source investment managers.
- Willingness to work within a dynamic team environment and meet deadlines independently.
Strong research and investigative skills, with an ability to critically assess investment strategies.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
 Ability to analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to compose quarterly client reports and other business correspondence. The candidate must possess the ability to communicate effectively with groups of clients, outside vendors, or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages and apply concepts of basic algebra. Must possess conceptual understanding of the reconciliation process.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations as well as in situations where only limited standardization exists.
